Before establishing the orchard, i.e., deep plowing, it is necessary to clean and level the surface. Based on pedological analyses and with the recommendation of experts, NPK fertilizer should be spread before deep plowing. Deep plowing should be done when the soil is maximally dried out to the depth of plow penetration, which is usually in July and the first half of August. For plums, a deep plowing depth of 50 to 70 cm is required, and on drier soils, the depth must be greater.
For growing plums, both generative and vegetative rootstocks can be used. Based on long-term research, Prunus myrobalana is recommended as a rootstock.
